The Battigayo app on an iPhone, showing the day’s power-cut hours

The power-cut schedule, on your phone.

Battigayo · Retired · 2012

We built Battigayo in 2012 to help people in Nepal plan their days around scheduled power cuts.

When the power goes

The Nepal Electricity Authority published the schedule as a printed table. The country was split into seven groups, and each group had different hours for every day of the week. To plan a day, people found their group, then the day, then the hours.

The schedule on your phone

Battigayo turned the table into one screen. Choose your group once, and the app shows today’s power-cut hours, with the rest of the week a tap away.

How people received it

One App Store review from May 2013 put it simply: “Everyone coming to Nepal should have this app.”

A past product

Battigayo is retired. We built it as idealaya, and this page keeps its purpose and its screens as part of our history.
