Handmade goods from Kathmandu
Nepal Made Crafts makes handmade goods with village workshops: hemp, nettle and cotton clothing, felt, woollens, pashmina, silver jewellery and lokta paper. It exports them abroad, and in 2012 it wanted to sell online too.
A brand printed on its own paper
In spring 2012 we designed the stationery: cards, letterhead, envelopes, a CD sleeve, a notepad and a care label for every garment. The cards are printed on green lokta, the handmade paper the company sells.
A shop planned before it was built
Before any design, we mapped the shop: a site map, a study of other shops and a first page. We built it on Magento from December 2012. Each order is split by maker, so every workshop receives its own order as a PDF.
Live in 2015
After a second draft in 2013, we upgraded the shop and took it live in July 2015. Its header is torn from the same green paper as the cards, with a wholesale page beside the catalogue.
Rebuilt in six weeks
In July 2018 we set a six-week plan to rebuild the shop. We sketched the home, category, product and footer by hand, designed them, then built the shop on WooCommerce. It was live by November 2018, with a page for wholesale buyers.
