A charity in rural Nepal
Himalayan Care Hands works in the most rural parts of Nepal: on health and nutrition, on women’s and children’s rights, and on eco-friendly ways of living. It wanted a simple website that still did everything a charity needs.
Colours from the logo
Two colours come from the logo, HCH Green and HCH Yellow. Four more mark the sections: East Bay, Light Sea Green, Piston Blue and Pizazz. Futura sets every word.
A home page with three ways to help
The home page opens on the charity’s own stories and sets out the need in plain figures. It ends with three ways to help: join, donate or subscribe. The bank details for a donation are on the page, so no one has to ask for them.
Make the work visible
The website put the charity’s project register at the centre. Projects appeared by sector and location, and their status showed which were completed, ongoing or proposed.
Projects first, then the way to help
Volunteer information sat beside the projects, so people saw the charity’s work before deciding how to take part. The pages:
- A map of every project, and a page for each with its facts, photographs and video
- A volunteer application, with the kinds of work on offer
- About, with the board and members, and a donation page
The site is no longer live; these screens are from the time we built it.
